The World’s First Multi-Colored Ceramic Watch
Hublot’s achievements in material development over the years have been remarkable, establishing the brand as a leader in innovative watchmaking. From pioneering colored sapphire and ceramic cases to inventing the world’s first scratch-resistant 18K gold alloy, Hublot has continuously pushed boundaries. Now, the brand unveils a groundbreaking innovation that has been years in the making: multi-colored ceramic, aptly named “Magic Ceramic.”
For over a decade, Hublot has been at the forefront of developing and producing colored ceramics, being one of the few maisons capable of manufacturing vibrantly colored ceramics entirely in-house. Thanks to the expertise of its R&D and Materials & Metallurgy teams, Hublot has taken this innovation a step further.
Unlike conventional ceramics, where colors are painted onto the surface, Magic Ceramic is created by forging different colored ceramic components together, resulting in a seamless fusion of hues. Once polished, the effect is mesmerizing, Hublot describes it as pure magic. This revolutionary material debuts on the bezel of the new Big Bang Unico, leaving enthusiasts eager to see how the brand will implement this technique in future creations.
The new Big Bang Unico features a 42mm case crafted from micro-blasted and polished black ceramic, including the case back. The pushers and crown are made of titanium, while the iconic H-shaped screws and the One Click system, Hublot’s patented interchangeable strap mechanism, are positioned at 12 and 6 o’clock.
The highlight of this timepiece is its bezel, where dark grey ceramic gives way to deep blue circles arranged in an organic, seemingly random pattern. By mastering advanced forging techniques, Hublot has taken a significant step forward in material innovation, solidifying its reputation as a pioneer in avant-garde watchmaking.
The skeletonized dial is finished in dark grey to match the case, featuring central hour, minute, and seconds hands. A column wheel is positioned at 6 o’clock, while the date disc is fully visible around the movement, with the aperture neatly integrated into the 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock.
At the heart of the Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic is the HUB1280 caliber, the second-generation Unico chronograph movement. Visible through the transparent case back, Hublot has used this caliber in many Big Bang editions, the latest being the Unico Pink Sapphire, this flyback chronograph movement blends technical excellence with aesthetic sophistication. The skeletonized tungsten oscillating weight.
Comprising 354 components and 43 jewels, the HUB1280 operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers an impressive 72-hour power reserve.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic comes with a black rubber strap and a black-plated titanium deployant buckle clasp. It is a limited edition of just 20 pieces and is priced at CHF 30,000, which is equivalent approximately to AED 122,000.
